Direct from Chile: Pareidolia Brings a World of Imagination to BPAC for One Night Only

One of only three Canadian stops for La Llave Maestra’s extraordinary wordless theatre experience also marks the launch of BPAC’s new CANOO partnership.

BURLINGTON, ON – Oct 2026 – What if a jacket could become an opera singer or a tutu an ostrich?

On Wednesday, October 7 at 7pm, The Burlington Performing Arts Centre (BPAC) welcomes acclaimed Chilean visual theatre company La Llave Maestra for PAREIDOLIA, a playful, poetic and visually astonishing journey into the imagination.

Presented in partnership with Aluna Theatre’s RUTAS Festival, Burlington is one of only three Canadian stops on La Llave Maestra’s international tour, alongside Toronto and Halifax. The company has brought its distinctive visual and object theatre to audiences in 18 countries, creating remarkable worlds through movement, masks, clowning and the transformation of everyday objects.

Completely wordless, PAREIDOLIA invites audiences to see the ordinary in extraordinary new ways. Everyday materials transform before their eyes, creating a surreal world filled with humour, illusion and surprise. Without dialogue, the production speaks through movement and imagery, crossing ages, cultures and languages.

“To bring a company of this calibre all the way from Chile to Burlington is a rare opportunity,” says Annie Wilson, Director of Programming & Marketing. “PAREIDOLIA is imaginative, surprising and unlike anything else in our season. We wanted to make sure cost wasn’t a barrier to experiencing something this special, so we’ve made the performance Pay-What-You-Can, including FREE. We are excited for you to come with an open mind and see where your imagination takes you.”

The community anticipation for the show has been amazing, as the evening performance of PAREIDOLIA has already sold out. Please contact the Box Office to get on the waiting list.

Earlier that day, BPAC will also welcome students to a special school performance of PAREIDOLIA as part of its ONSTAGE Education Series, giving young audiences from across the community the opportunity to experience the production. Remaining tickets are limited, so book now.

BPAC Launches New CANOO Partnership

The evening will also mark the official launch of BPAC’s partnership with CANOO, an initiative of the Institute for Canadian Citizenship that connects eligible newcomers with arts, culture and recreation experiences across Canada.

Through CANOO, eligible newcomers will have access to complimentary and discounted admission to select BPAC Presents performances, creating more opportunities to experience live performance and connect with their new community through the arts.

Launching the partnership with PAREIDOLIA is particularly fitting. With no spoken language, the production invites audiences to connect through movement, imagery, humour and imagination, no matter what language they speak.
