Join us for a great night of music with BPAC’s ‘Live & Local’ series! Each show features both emerging and established homegrown talent, backed on-stage by seasoned industry professionals, the Mark Lalama Trio. November 14 will feature guests Hayley Verrall, winner of BPAC’s ‘Hall of Fame’ award and Terra Lightfoot, a Canadian musician and singer-songwriter from Hamilton, Ontario who has released four albums.
The Mark Lalama Trio is Mark Lalama on keyboards and vocals, Davide DiRenzo on drums and vocals, and Rich Moore on bass and vocals – all in-demand session and touring musicians who have played on hundreds of stages and studio recordings with top artists ranging from Tom Cochrane to Holly Cole and just about everyone in between. This trio is fast earning a reputation as one of the most engaging and intuitive bands around, and together they create a unique brand of incredible, genre-defying original music that never fails to inspire those who are there to take it all in.
“You fellas are so dammed good… great players all, with oodles of feel and ears like satellite dishes…I felt like a mangy dog riding shotgun in the back seat of a Cadillac. Thank you so much for inviting me to the party.” – Stephen Fearing, multi award-winning singer/songwriter
“HOLY CRAP THIS IS AMAZING. HOLY CRAP.” – Sarah Slean, internationally renowned singer-songwriter/composer/recording artist/poet/visual artist
“You guys are all monsters!” – John McDermott, Iconic Canadian Tenor
Burlington, Ontario, country singer/songwriter Hayley Verrall is a fresh young artist who has quietly but quickly been edging her way into the Canadian country music community over the past couple years with her roots and contemporary inspired original music.
While Hayley has been honoured to present her original music opening shows for, working with and alongside other iconic Canadian musicians, she reveals her true motivation for songwriting: “Writing is part of my day and comes from daily inspiration, from whatever I’m doing at the time. I try to write music about me, my experiences, the experiences of my friends and family and those I meet in my everyday life. My entire music career came about through a real life experience which is reflected in my Singing for Smiles story. I’m always on the look out for a good story that says who I am but which also feels like it could be someone else’s story too. I’ve written many songs about life, love and the world, and it’s my hope that people will be inspired or encouraged if they are going through the same things.”
An internationally and locally awarded artist, Hayley’s passion for performing and for people has not gone unnoticed and she was most recently named the 2020 inductee to the Burlington Performing Arts Centre Hall of Fame.
Terra Lightfoot is a ferocious talent. Following up her third studio album, the JUNO and Polaris-nominated New Mistakes, Lightfoot returns with the remarkable Consider the Speed, a smouldering, soulful full-length recorded by Grammy-winning producer Jay Newland at Memphis landmark Royal Studios.
“One of Canada’s best all-around musicians… an amazing tour de force, the complete package” – CBC Music
“Canada’s Terra Lightfoot has a huge voice and a big and gutsy guitar tone to match” – Guitar Player
“Cuts like lightning to a tree” – The Globe and Mail
